Hello, we are Rob, Jodie, Erin Lindsey, Christian and Will Witzel from Centralia, Illinois. This website is intended to be a meeting place to share and exchange information for the descendents of the Wetzel family that came to America, specifically to St. Clair County Illinois and St. Louis Missouri From Hofheim/Lampertheim Hessen-Darmstadt Germany in 1839 as well as the descendents of those that remained. We look forward to hearing from Wetzel family members from around the country and around the world. Now for my best shot in German. So you're asking, if your name is Witzel, why is your web site called Wetzel-family.com? Thats a good question. The reason is that this site is going to be more about my family history and my family tree than it is about my immidiate family.
When my family came to America From Germany our name was spelled Wetzel and sometime between then and now parts of my family started spelling it Witzel and Whitsell, while some still use the original spelling of Wetzel. Each spelling is represented at the family reunion every year.
Hopefully through this site I will hear from cousins from around the country and around the world however they spell their name! Wenn du mit der Wetzel Familie zusammenhängst, unser Gastbuch bitte unterzeichnen. Wir möchten von dir hören! |
